3RD QUARTER UPDATE – AUG. 8, 2022

IT’S TIME TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP
Partners for Stennis was organized 27 years ago to advance business in the region through Stennis Space Center (SSC) and the Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF).  As a member investor, we thank you for your involvement in this effort and invite you to renew your membership during 2022.

CAPITOL DAY IN JACKSON
This past March we were able to meet face to face with Mississippi Legislators during Capitol Day in Jackson. Our mission was to continue to remind them of the economic impact Stennis Space Center and the Michoud Assembly Facility have on our region. Stennis alone employs 5,000 with an average salary with benefits of $105,000, and a global impact of $950 billion.

CITIZENS FOR SPACE EXPLORATION NATIONAL COALITION
In May, we were part of the national coalition, Citizens for Space Exploration, meeting with members of Congress from Mississippi and Louisiana to tell our story on why we advocate for a robust NASA budget.  Together, 100 travelers, representing 28 states, conducted 391 Congressional office visits. Prior to these meetings, we held briefings with the Deputy NASA Administrator Bob Cabana and key leaders to make sure that we had the information we needed to communicate at the Federal level.

CENTER DIRECTOR’S BRIEFING
In May, we also hosted the first face-to-face meeting for our members since COVID broke out:  the Center Director’s Briefing.  During this meeting at INFINITY, close to 150 stakeholders heard reports from Stennis, Michoud, the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command, the National Data Buoy Center, and Relativity Space.  We also hosted 30 students from the Hancock County Youth Leadership Program to challenge the next generation of explorers.

LEADERSHIP HANCOCK
In June, we hosted Leadership Hancock, a class of 20 leaders throughout Hancock, for a tour of Stennis to broaden awareness about the work there by NASA, Aerojet Rocketdyne, Lockheed Martin, Relativity Space, and the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command.  We also provided information on the work of the National Data Buoy Center, the Naval Research Lab, the Navy Seals and NAVSCIATTS.

QUARTERLY MEETINGS
In July, we will begin the series of quarterly meetings to bring more information and connections to our members.  The schedule of meetings is provided on the attached.

Through Partners, you are part of a group who represent American taxpayers committed to continued national investment in space exploration.
