UPDATE FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD FEB. 1, 2022

Partners for Stennis was organized 27 years ago to advance business in the region through Stennis Space Center (SSC) and the Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF).  As a member investor, we thank you for your involvement in this effort.

While COVID made it impossible to meet face to face this year, we embraced technology to utilize the tools to keep our members informed despite the obstacles COVID presented. In January, we pre-promoted the upcoming Green Run Test.  Later that month, we partnered with the US Chamber of Commerce to distribute an information webinar on the Path to Artemis III.  In February, we held a live chat with the Deputy Director of Stennis, John Bailey to keep our members informed of activities at Stennis.

In March, we were part of the national coalition, Citizens for Space Exploration, meeting with 100 Freshmen members of Congress to tell our story on why we advocate for a robust NASA budget. We also provided a Live Stream of the Green Run Test since COVID restrictions made it impossible for the public and our members to attend.  In May, we hosted a virtual briefing from the directors of Stennis and Michoud.

In June, we met with members of Congress from Mississippi and Louisiana and others throughout the country in a series of meetings to up-date them on funding challenges for NASA, regionally and nationally. In October, we hosted the 60th Anniversary Webinar with the directors of Stennis and Michoud, sponsored by our core member partners.

In December, we promoted the US Chamber’s 4th Annual Space Summit to keep you informed of opportunities to expand commercial and civil space partnerships. While the year was virtual, our executive team has been working throughout the year in face-to-face meetings to up-date our strategic plan going forward.

Through Partners, you are part of a group who represent American taxpayers committed to continued national investment in space exploration.  Over the past few years, America has made significant progress in manufacturing, testing, and launching key components of the Orion spacecraft, Space Launch System, commercial vehicles, as well as more scientific work aboard the ISS.  All of this contributes to making the Artemis program and deep space exploration possible.  We are proud of the role that employees at Stennis and Michoud are playing in these efforts.
